Wow, so many questions here, so few answers :(. I hope someone can find and post some answers, as I am facing similar dilemmas. I'm using SQL Server 2005 Express to attempt to connect over a VPN (or, at least trying to, but it can't find the server). If anyone sees this and feels generous, please advise.

Furthermore, you can pass in these "standard" format strings to the GetDateTimeFormats function to narrow the result set and make it easier to find the one you're after in any language:

return "01 September 2003 04:00:00 AM"

C#.NET

dat.GetDateTimeFormats(new CultureInfo("en-GB"))[79]

should also return "01 September 2003 04:00:00 AM"

so you don't need a separate string array to hold the values just to get the one you're after.
