How did I break SharpReader?

I used to use SharpReader to obsessively keep track of all the RSS feeds I enjoy reading - until two weeks ago when it just stopped loading.

When I run the .exe, the hard drive grinds for about 2 seconds and then nothing happens.

Has anyone experienced this before?

Reality TV show idea of the day:

How about we have a real reality TV show where viewers call in and evict certain shows from TV?  I would be the first to call in and try to evict Big Brother and Australian Idol, but I guess the idiot masses would overrule me.

I stopped using RSS aggregators, SharpReader was amongst them. There were quite a few instances when it goofed itself up, and I was only able to get it running again either manually editing config files or reinstalling.

In the end, I ended up just using My Yahoo!'s RSS aggregator. Why? Because it only shows me 5 blog posts at a time. I spent too much time with the other readers reading what was essentially 90% garbage. Now, I don't feel pressured to keep up and only read the occasional blog that catches my eye.

I'm better informed, and not overwhelmed with crap now.

maybe you have set SharpReader to keep the old entries. the more entries it has, the more memory it uses. right now my SR uses a good 256MB of my memory... it has 13148 entries cached.

Sauce Reader is better than Sharp Reader. I had a power outtage and it didn't like that though.

I had to back up my opml file, clear the cache then copy the opml file back and in and I was in business.

I'd imagine something similar happened to SharpReader for you.

Right now, it seems you best option is to use Mozilla Firefox and plug the Sage 1.1 or RSS extension. It aggregates your feeds and browse beautifully.

If you send me your SharpReader.log and .log.1 files (which can be found in your "C:\Documents and Settings\Alex\Application Data\SharpReader" directory (assuming "Alex" is your windows username)) I may be able to help

Are you using the latest version of #R btw?
