Giving away a free MSDN subscription to the community.

I got another free MSDN subscription to give away, I gave one last night to the Inland Empire User Group.

How do I make sure to give it to the community? I thought that anybody reading my blog is part of the community. I want to make sure that goes to a person or community that can use it, if you want it, please send me an email or leave a comment and let me know how you going to use it. Do you have an open source project? Are you building an application for a organization to give back? Do you have installed GeoTwitter.NET on your blog? ;-) That gives you points as well. The gift is not for sale. I’ll be happy to send it to a school, another user group or students.

Last night I went to the Inland Empire dot.net User Group, there were 37 enthusiastic people spending their night improving themselves. I must say, I haven’t seen that number of people on a user group in a very long time.

There was, as well, a great presentation from Reza Madani – Business Intelligence with SQL Server 2008; “Reza's presentation covered SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)”

I was very tired, my bed time was overdue. I was shocked that they didn’t had any Internet connection, that challenge alone can be difficult to provide presentations to that user group.

Still a great experience to see a community learning and involved. Its what is all about. Does not matter if you use the ASP.NET forums or a user group, its all the community that at the end of the day will help you improve your skills as a developer.

NOTE: All costs to send the MSDN subscription will be paid by me and the gift is provided by Microsoft. However I assume all taxes laws that may apply and I am responsible for any local, state or federal taxes in connection with any gratuities given. No cost for the recipient of the gift. Microsoft provided the gift to be to share with other individuals of my choosing in the community.

Cheers

Al

Hey Albert,

Nice give out... sure not easy. I have a friend who wants to make Architecture videos in Arabic. He also wants to make a VSTS series of videos. The subscription can help making those outside of his company!

I think maybe this helps me moving between my company and the local events I speak in as well.

So, it'll be great if you can give out the gift to me.

Thank you very much,

Mohamed Meligy

Hi,

I am about to launch a new site - the Staga Network @ http://www.staga.net.  This is a social network based around your local neighborhood and it will allow you to give things away to people close by and help eliminate unnecessary trash, thus saving the Earth as well.

I am a one man show, coding all of the JS, CSS, SQL, and C# myself.  I am also paying all of the fees associated with developing and hosting the site.  A subscription like this would sure help me become a better programmer, and save some money while I'm at it.

Hi Mr. Albert,

I am software engineer. I have 3 years experience on MS .Net Technologies (C#,Vb.Net, Asp Net, XML Web Services,).I developed CRM,B2B,B2C and financial projects with development team in different companies.  I am going to establish a new community about agile software methodology and Microsost .Net Technologies. There are not so much .net documentation in Turkish. I will translate the resources to Turkish firstly. There are last of people around me who desire to learn .net but since their English level not enough it is hard to improve themselves.

I need more recources to achieve this job.

I will be appreciated greatly if you provide me a free MSDN subscription.

Best regards...

I have enjoyed working with .NET for a few years, having done a few small projects, and one of some size. For the most part, I have gotten by using the Visual Studio Express Editions.  I am behind the times though, and am not up to date with the latest tools available.

I have enjoyed some of the offerings of the open source community, and would like to look at giving back, somehow. One of my current projects is a possibility to be open-sourced, and I have some ideas for other projects.

Receiving the MSDN subscription would provide me both the means and the motivation to get caught up with current tools and techniques. So I could start some activity on the open source scene, as well as doing paid projects. I could continue improving and expanding my skill set.

I have been a developer over the past 8 years, starting in the Domino World.  I over the past 3 years have made the switch to Visual Studio and feel that I am contantly making strides to be a better developer.

Funny thing is I am sitting at a new Microsoft User Group right now in Gwinnett County GA, www.ggmug.com trying to tune my skills even more.

I have some projects that I would really like to get moving at home that I have not been able to for multiple reasons.  This subscription would help me to remove some of the obstacles.

Thanks,

Tim
