Migrating from Community Server 2007 to Grafiiti.

I know, you open my blog and everything looks different, this is the result of the painless move to Telligent graffiti. I have been waiting to move for a very long time yet I didn’t had the time. Graffiti makes the move very simple, first just download the app and open it in VS2008, run it and go to the migration, will download all your posts from Community Server 2007. Graffiti makes more sense for me as I only use the blog in the big Community Server area

The main problem is the links are a little different between both applications, yet create folders as you need to make sure all links stay the same. Please let me know if you find a broken link on the new blog.

A must have http://scottcate.com/blog/graffiti-404-manager/ plugin for Graffiti.

Graffiti Themes

Themes are so easy in Graffiti, as long as you know how to point and click you can keep changing your theme from the existing ones. I could not find a theme that comes out of the box that will look nice and clean. Other people has build their own theme. Still looking for the perfect one, I actually love http://jasona.net theme.

Database

Graffiti uses by default the VistaDB database, I got to say, I am very happy with it and it works on hosting environments http://forums.vistadb.net/viewtopic.php?t=2302&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=&sid=468ffd2c13302f7728db0f8b91b9fb36

I like it as is just a file and for hosting is easier to back up and move it around as need it. Performance better than Access.

Well, there you go, I’ll let you know how it goes now with Graffiti, I got my old blog back up in any case this time. Back in 2006 I lost so many posts!
