Migrating Graffiti from VistaDB to SQL 2008

Lately my Graffiti blog running Vista DB is being having lock problems and slowing down my blog. After sending an email to my website hoster ORCSWeb They replied with a suggestion to upgrade to VistaDB, this is the kind of service they are running. They even gave me the steps to do that. You can read my review about ORCSWeb here.

1. Create a new SQL Server database.
2. Install the Graffiti schema (NO sample data)
3. Download your vista db file
4. Run datamover (give it your sql connectionstring and point it at your vista database)
5. Update your web.config

Creating the database and installing the Schema is not a big deal if you got the SQL manager for 2008 install, the application datamover will do the rest for you. Will take a very long time as has copy all the tables, the Post_Statistics may take a hour or more.

After the migration, I changed the connection string to the database and now my Telligent Graffiti 1.2 is extremely fast and ready to take any volume of users.
