Who decides "off topic"?

I'm wondering who decides that a post is off topic.

I wrote my first blog entry in a long time today was confused when it didn't show up on the main site.

After trying to figure out if I had not published it properly or set some specifc property, I eventualy noticed the two links for On Topic Only and All Posts.

I don't need the entry to show up on the main page, but it doesn't seem to be further off target than some of the other things that are in the main feed.

Edit : I think I figured it out, use the "Asp.Net" tag :P

Just use any of the tags listed below next to the tag box and you should be fine. There is a list of 20-30 tags that the main feed pulls from.

Yes, anything not tagged using tags related to content on this site is simply not displayed in the aggregate feed. We received a bunch of feedback from readers and authors that weblogs.asp.net went off topic a lot - as in personal stuff not in any way related to the .NET community. Obviously it's pretty easy to circumvent though -- since it's all self responsibility.

If I remember correctly, the massive off-topic issues were in part due to integration of the blogs from msdn into the asp.net feed.

I really haven't used the blog much since it was converted to CommunityServer.
