Redesigning Microsoft.com - with CSS, without tables

Redesigning Microsoft.com - with CSS, without tables. A 62% file size reduction anticipated! "If multiplied out by my measly 1 million page views estimate, that 25 KB savings comes to about 23.8 GB in bandwidth savings per day, or 8.5 terabytes per year." Go for it MS!

Great idea. I never realized CSS was so powerful until I saw <a href="http://www.csszengarden.com">The CSS Zen Garden</a>

Interesting. A popular project these days: http://www.aspnetresources.com/blog/ms_redesign_final.aspx

Here's a list of entries for his article series: http://weblogs.asp.net/jgalloway/archive/2004/07/09/178087.aspx

What's even worse is that in general MS sites don't use compression...e.g., http://www.pipeboost.com/getreport.asp?URL=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.microsoft.com%2F
So, they could save 80% of their bandwidth by using compression...even worse this (http://weblogs.asp.net) bad boy could go from almost 400k down about 70k!
