Reading blogs in Outlook

I was a big fan of NewsGator back when it first came out and I could read all my blogs in Outlook and organise them into .PST files and have search applications like X1 or Yahoo Desktop Search (built on X1 engine) could index my pst files and I could find them very easily.  I could also forward a posting by just hitting reply.

Now that NewsGator has gone to a subscription model, I have been looking at alternative products.   The one I have started using and seems to be pretty good (and free!) is RSS Popper.  This one is very much like the old NewsGator outlook application except that RSS Popper works much better with ATOM feeds than NewsGator.  Did I mention it was free?

Another application that could be promising is Attensa RSS Reader for Outlook.  However, their site says that this is a free public preview.  I am not sure I want to be tied to an application until I am a little more sure whether this is going to be a free product, a purchased product, or a subscription based product…

I've been using IntraVnews (http://www.intravnews.com) for quite a while with good luck. It used to be free for personal use, but has started charging a little (24.95 USD) for the newer version. I'd be interested to know how RSS Popper compares.

Loren,

intraVnews is now free again for personal use, and use in non-profit organizations.
This was announced last Saturday and you can read the new license on the intravnews site.

One important feature of intraVnews is that it also can download full content, even if the feed itself is not full content. None of the other aggregators do this (well).

RSS Popper also has the option to download the whole web page instead of just the feed.

I tried Omea Reader but I had some problems with it taking 3 minutes to load up on a machine with 2 GB of RAM. Others I work with use it and some had the same problem and others didn't. Even when I used Omea Reader, I used it mainly to notify me when web pages in my favorites were updated. I still like my blogs to be in outlook...

Is there a version available for Exchange. I read my mail all over the place and would like to have my RSS feeds there too.
