How to get your Quick Launch Toolbar back in Windows 7

  1. Right click on taskbar and select Toolbars > New Toolbar
  2. Browse to:
    C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch
  3. Hit: Select Folder

-or-  you can just download and install a much better version of Quick Launch called Free Launch Bar.  It is free (as the name implies) and has more features the old Quick Launch.

They better offer a simpler way to revert back to the "old" way or they'll see another item on the complaint list. I have no problem with introducing a new way, just don't remove the old way. The taskbar, and the quick launch, is the VS for the Windows user.   Microsoft should dedicate a lot of time to polish this feature to the max. Right now, it's nowhere near as customizable / usable and as it could be. And now in W7 I have to click twice and move the mouse 100px min just to switch to an application ?! -- that's a decrease in usability from my pov. Sure, it's great for somebody who's working with W7 for the first time, but after a few minutes of playing, that newness goes away.

@peter:

You hit right on the nail. Couldn't agree more.
