laptop wrist syndrome (LWS)

as most of you know, i've recently found myself stuck behind my ever-so-toasty toshiba 5105 laptop, reading and pre-testing away. when i do this every evening, i sit on the couch and listen to jazz on cable radio. perhaps the design of this beast isn't what i once thought it was, but over time it has certainly lost its smoothness.

in fact, i spend a lot of time wondering why i can't stop feeling like my arms are resting on a sharp blade.

am i on crack? or have we a new disorder, worthy of proper insurance-company-regulation? it's like carpal tunnel, but worse - it stings.

I too sit on my couch listening to cable radio (classical) with my Thinkpad + wifi, so I can empathize with the pain. I'm not familiar with your laptop, but I too get the really uncomfortable, almost stinging sensation in my wrists at times.

My posture really suffers when I work from my couch, so I try to spend more time in my office.

If you're getting pain at night, or if your hands/fingers have a tendency to go numb, I'd seriously see a doctor.

I've been battling repetitive stress in both of my hands for years now. It's never been bad enough to actually require any surgery, however it does come and go but frankly pain is most definitely a symptom of carpal tunnel/rsd, so what you have is no worse than other people who've had RSD in their arms (albeit some fuckers get away with numbness only).
