Altova announced a royaltee-free distribution of AltovaXML engine complete with .NET interfaces. It supports XQuery 1.0 and XSLT 2.0 (with or without schema support). Excelent news for .NET developers!!!

Do the benchmarking! This is still COM Interop!

So what?? In v1.x, going through COM Interop to MSXML for XSLT processing is MUCH faster than the managed XSLT implementation.

And in the case of XQuery and XSLT 2.0, it's interop versus *NOTHING*. So I'm happy anyways.

Passing input XML as a string only ? No extension objects ? Might work for some applications, but I'll pass...
