.NET Wonk

2006 will bring new shows and new content from Pwop!

During the month of December we at Pwop and me at Franklins.Net are working hard on kicking everything up a notch. I've mentioned this before, but we're going to be producing two new shows:

dnrTV - a weekly one-hour screencast show that'll be part DNR interview and part Webcast showcasing some of the brightest and most interesting developers in the world. Some shows to look forward to: Miguel Castro builds a Web Control, Venkat Subramaniam uncovers a world of .NET Gotchas, and Rocky Lhotka's series on the CSLA.NET framework. Now instead of just hearing about how to do something on DNR, you can watch it unfold before your eyes. Sponsored (as of today) by DataDynamics and Developer Express.

Hanselminutes - Scott Hanselman's new podcast - a 30 minute weekly audio show in which Scott talks about specific problems he and his team have encountered and how they solved them. Sponsored by Automated QA.

Franklins.net is offering new hands-on classes in VB 2005 and ASP.NET 2005. The website will have a new facelift. We haven't even advertised our first VB 2005 Master Class January 23rd, and we've already got 7 students. Offical word will come soon, but you can contact us if you're interested in this class. The franklins.net website will be getting a facelift soon. Thanks to new partnerships with expert trainers all over the USA, we're also offering onsite classes in just about any .NET/data related topic you can think of.

We're also giving the DNR and Mondays sites a facelift. Dax is hard at work as we speak whipping up something new and cool.

This is the year that we get PwopCatcher out the door as well! A customizable drop-dead-cool-looking easy-to-use podcast client that uses BitTorrent as well as HTTP.

Pwop Ambassadors

We're also starting a new program for the die-hard fans who want to participate in the growth of Pwop. Participants will be asked to manage a box (supplied by us) on a connection with good bandwidth at their site - to seed our global BitTorrent feed. Of course, all of our content is original and unique, and will not be used to transfer unauthorized bits. However, we want to get a huge group of dedicated machines out there to provide non-stop feeds for all of our shows, even those that we produce for other people.

We will provide our ambassadors with exclusive content, a bio page on our site, and special swag. Hopefully we'll be able to have a party once in a while too!

Oh, and as for me... I'm having a great time getting all this great stuff together! It's going to be a great year!

I am looking forward to dnrtv! Please keep the audio dnr too! There are lots of times I can spend some time with an audio but cannot view a webcast.

Absolutely. In fact, we'll be doing a lot of double-features, where the guest does an audio interview on DNR and a dnrTV show on the same topic in the same week.

Sorry to dump some cold water on your plan, but I don't see dnrTV being a success. The reason dnrAudio is successful because I can dump it on my mp3 player and listen as I drive to work or walk to lunch of whatever. dnrTV will require me to actually sit down and watch it. I don't know if this is just experience, but there is so much programming work out there and so many developers have picked up after-work side gigs, that I don't know who would have the time to watch your videocasts.

That said, i wish you all the success and hope you prove me wrong.

Regards

Yeah, prove him wrong. I'll watch, I'm doing that with Channel9 already. Why haven't you been on there, pull some strings with the Scobleizer :D

Anyway, this sound so schweet, the Carlmeister is at it again.

I so want to be a PWOP wh... er, ambassador but I'm not sure of my 384kbps upload with 10GB/month limit will do the trick.

dnrTV will be a great addition. I am hoping Camtasia will be used so we may follow the code. dnr - Pwop has set the standards and it is good to see the progression.

Sure. If you have bandwidth, the more spread out the better.
