However, the main problem with this trick is that assemblies in the SharedCode\Bin folder:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;- cannot be hotfixed (they are write-locked by the w3wp process)&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;- probably would not trigger a pool recycling when changed (if they could)&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;any solution ?&lt;/p&gt;

Unfortunately, wrapping the lot in another UpdatePanel will not fix this problem.&lt;/p&gt;
