Dare I risk it? I do

As soon as I click post on this blog post I will be clicking "Install" on the windows update screen to install Vista SP1.... Fingers crossed.

Update 1: Cancelled the install, it told me it would take an hour and I wouldn't be able to use my machine during that time. I'm trying to write DotNetNuke Training documentation, so I'll save the SP1 install for another time, perhaps later in the morning.

Update 2: I let the installation run when I went to bed last night, everything appears fine this morning. I noticed a few differences with the RDP windows when i tested to make sure my RDP access still worked, but other than that no noticeable difference with SP1 installed yet. I'll install the latest NVidia drivers tonight and see if SP1 fixed all the issues I've had with those over the past year.

DotNetNuke 4.8.2 Released!
Wednesday, March 19, 2008 9:25 AM

DotNetNuke 4.8.2 released today available for download from www.DotNetNuke.com

There are a few security fixes in this release, and also a fix for the ScriptManager problems, I had blogged about a temporary fix for the script manager errors a few weeks ago.

I'm upgrading all my sites to 4.8.2 this morning. Always remember to back up your site and database before performing any module installs or core upgrades, while 99% of the time everything will work fine, the 1% will really kick your ass if you haven't backed up.

The hounds are active in the asp.net forums!

Wow, tonight I was working on a DNN module and took a little breather by posting in the asp.net forums, thinking I could help a few people out. I haven't posted there in quite a while as I am mostly active over on the forums for www.dotnetnuke.com

I took a look at a few of the unanswered forum posts and posted quick replies, with what I believed to be accurate fixes for the questions they had.

Less than 5 to 10 minutes later there were 3-4 more posts all saying basically the same thing I did. Though, most of them have nice little signatures that say "mark this as an answer if helpful".

Do people only post in the forums anymore to rack up some "points" or what? I guess we do see the same thing over on the dotnetnuke.com forums, people essentially regurgitating someone else's answer from earlier in the thread just to rack up their post counts.

What has this world come to?
