ASP.NET Web Services or .NET Remoting?

With Indigo there's no longer the question to choose between .NET Remoting and ASP.NET Web Services.

Indigo covers all: Indigo Web Services and Indigo RemoteObject Services. ;-)

This is wrong.

The choie was never only driven by the API, but by the different paradigms of both systems.

Yes, but you still have to decide whether to go for services or remote objects, and this decision has far reaching consequences on the application design.

In this respect, nothing has changed.

I am not SO shure about it.

For me it looks like the remoting sits on top of the web services (or: services) and uses it as sort of a transport channel.

Nothing that could not and has not be done yet.

Not to talk it down, but I dont see it as the grand revolution, just the next evolutionary step.

So the underlying technology is the same (channel).

But it hasn't been done yet. .NET Remoting and ASP.NET Web Services are not based on each other.

Indigo gets the best out of ASP.NET WS, .NET Remoting, Enterprise Services. So it is a evolutionary step.
