DotNetJunkies 3.0 released

Got a instant message for a small test from Doug yesterday, and I'm glad to hear that the new DotNetJunkies was official released. Their new web site is so amazing and pretty!

The new version of this web site have a Forum, article discussion module, blog, job, news, quickstart, tutorial....

When talking about blog, the Junkies created a new blog section now:
http://www.dotnetjunkies.com/Weblog

And they provide an email address for any potential bloggers:
IWannaBlog@DotNetJunkies.com

Well, one comment for Doug & Donny - There are many things and rich in their content but I have too little time... ;-)

[New article] data access control - SqlDataSourceControl

Just published a new article on ASPAlliance last week, ah... I just notice that I didn't write for my column more than 4 months... :\

In Web Matrix, there is a new data access control - SqlDataSourceControl and we can use it to manipulate the datasource and databind to any data web controls, e.g. DropDownList, DataGrid, DataList, Repeater, etc. The beauty is that you can create and configurate the SqlDataSourceControl once easily, and then you can apply it to different data web controls immediately.

Matrix (Bug?) Reloaded

After reading lots of reviews, comments and blogs about this film out there, I saw this film tonight! :)

I'm second to Sam's blog as in:

Like all Matrix obessed, I saw the trailers. However, I get this sense from the trailers and from some reviews that the action stuff has overcome the movie to the exclusion of the philosophy and story. Then again, there is that sense of mucking with perfection.

Yes, the ACTION is really cool! It's better than the verion 1 of this film and... the story itself (The story will be continued, right? :)

Being a fan of the ASP.NET Web Matrix and a co-author of the Beginning Dynamic Websites with ASP.NET Web Matrix, it's undoubtedly for me to think of the ASP.NET Web Matrix (WM) Development Tool immediately :)

The Matrix in the film is a program, and the ASP.NET Web Matrix (WM) development tool is a program too, while a common area of all computer program is - bug. When talking about the WM and after trying the WM offered from the ASP.NET Team, what I can say is that the next version of the WM is fantastic! (Nikhil just add an entery in his blog in this issue:
http://www.nikhilk.net/Entry.aspx?id=5)

I, however, believe NO bug-free program in the world, and we can make a program to become more and more perfect by continuous update and review.

Finally, thanks to WarnerBros and the ASP.NET Web Matrix Development Team as they give me a pleasant night today. :)

Help on Web Hosting

Any idea/suggestion about Web Hoster which provide a multiple-year plan?

A Portal site for the Hong Kong .NET User Group will be released soon, (guess what?) which is based on the CSK. While the concern at this moment is - Web Hosting, and I'm finding a hoster which can provide > 1 hosting plan (and definitely offer a discount if possible) to me, but all I can find on the Web is a monthly or yearly basis only. Finally, I found a hoster offered this solution to me, but their service and response is not as good as I expect.

Anyway, Thanks to PaulWilson, he gave me some idea about the hoster over our conversation tonight, and sure, we talk about the future of ASP.NET as well. :)

Regards,
Colt
