Obfuscate Web Page

Is it no way to obfuscate a web page? Is it because browser (and human?) have to interpret the HTML code so everyone can view the source and/or download the files (in)directly?

[Forget the Pre-compilation feature of the ASP.NET v2.0 first] I came across with an interesting tool today - ASPBodyGuard.NET, I tried their demo and it's very interesting! I can't right-click and save an image file, and I also don't understand the HTML source code from my browser directly too. The quick fact of this tool states that encryption and encoding were used to obfuscate a web page by using this tool and the algorithm is quite straighforward... but I have no clue about how can they do that (Please let me know if you know their secret :)

For me, read the source code or obfuscate a web page is not a big deal. Actually I don't mind visitors view my rendered code (but I do understand the importance of JavaScript code and/or image file for control developers or graphic designers). Anyway, my concern is the “performance“ as a whole, maybe the overall page size, overhead, user-friendliness, bandwidth... for my users. :)

DataGrid Girl is trying to get to Singapore Idol!

I just chat with Marcie through MSN and knew that she may fly to Singapore and try the Singapore Idol!

I think the NameHere Idol is a big program and most of you may know well for names like Kimberley, Justin, Clay and Kelly (and William Hung as well), but honestly, I didn't notice that there's a difference for the age limitation in different countries until Marcie blog about it.

Before Marcie arrive Singapore and win the Singapore Idol, I know she'll stay in at least 2 countries (for flight transfer), and of course, as a INETA Asia Pacific & Greater China region (APAC) driver, I'll try to line up the user groups in these countries with her and hopefully arrange some UG events from the queen of DataGrid. :)

Come on, if you're living in Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Hong Kong or other APAC countries, let's cheers and welcome the famous and knowledgeable DGG to APAC. :)

Cheers, Colt

IIS/WWWRoot in Web Matrix

WWWRoot is a hidden folder (by default) and can't be displayed in directory listing in Web Matrix due to security reason. There's a File Explorer/Directory Listing like workspace in Web Matrix, where all of the files in you hard diskes will be displayed over there for you to drag and drop on to designer pane or perform other actions, however, you can't see the folder of WWWRoot come with the IIS by default...

If you ever see this happen, the first question is.. Do you have IIS installed in your local machine? This question look like stupid but it's obvious. Web Matrix come with a Cassini Web server so that you don't actually need to install IIS in order to "play" a web page, and you can select/create any folder to host your web page out of the default WWWRoot folder (and you can of course put your file under WWWRoot and use your IIS directly in Web Matrix :)

The second question to you is: check out these thread. You can see the reason and solution over there and the point is run a command line statement as to unhide the hidden/system folder/file. I'm not sure do VS.NET 2005 have such "security" consideration as in Web Matrix, but at least I know MS did a lot of security consideration (this "protection" is a good stuff anyway).
