.. awesome news !! I heard about this, but here is an endorsement straight from MSFT on what I've felt for a long time. The telerik r.a.d. editor is the best editor you can get. • Solving an interesting deployment scenario in SharePoint 2007.

.. because if you develop, you must deploy!! Recently, Angus Logan from Microsoft Australia pinged me with a rather interesting SharePoint 2007 related problem that Tourism Western Australia ( www.westernaustralia.com ) was running into. See, they have SharePoint 2007 on their intranet. In their SharePoint 2007 installation, they had search configured to search the Australian Tourism Data warehouse – a HUGE database using BDC (Business Data Catalog) ( read more ). So far so good – until of course they need to create an Extranet, and now they need to move all the Managed properties and Crawl properties over the Extranet SSP (Shared Service Provider). This scenario is actually fairly common. Say for instance, you have a serious BDC catalog – configured...

  • DNRTV: An Introduction to Sharepoint 2007 (Is now online)

Watch the DNR Show Couple of nights back, Carl Franklin (who is probably partying in Barcelona right now), called me and said "Hey can you do a DNR TV?". My Q was .. "Tonight?", and his answer was, "Now". LOL !! So, we did a completely impromptu Part #1, of an Intro to Sharepoint 2007. And when I say, completely impromptu - I mean, no slides, no timeline, no script - dive in and swim sorts of a show. But that is what makes it so much better - there are ZERO Powerpoint slides in it. ZERO!! In this show, I talked a bit about the setup of Sharepoint 2007, and shared a number of things I have learnt lately. I have also been occupied a lot lately in reviewing two rather outstanding books on Sharepoint, one by Scot Hillier and the second by Ed Hild...

  • Orcas October CTP, clearer instructions for Virtual Server R2

.. so you can actually use the October CTP :-/ Unless you’ve been sitting under a heavy rock, heavily sedated on cocaine, – you probably heard that MSFT released the Orcas CTP for October . What they conveniently choose to forgot however were clearer instructions for Virtual Server R2 (or at least I didn’t find ‘em). Seriously, you have a team of developers work very hard to meet a deadline, and then you don’t give clear instructions on how to set it up. :-/ Anyway, here are the instructions. 1. Download the base Orcas image first . Go ahead and unzip/run that, so you will have two files base01.vmc and base01.vhd. 2. Next, download the various pieces of the Orcas CTP from this link . Run/Unzip this – you will see VSOct2006CTP.vhd and VSOct2006CTP...

  • DNRTV: An Introduction to Sharepoint 2007

.. coming soon. Last night, Carl Franklin (who is probably partying in Barcelona right now), called me and said "Hey can you do a DNR TV?". ZERO!! The show isn't online yet, but should be very very soon. We will probably follow this up with a Show #2 because 1 hour was barely enough to scratch the surface of Sharepoint 2007. In this show, I talked a bit about the setup of Sharepoint 2007, and shared a number of things...

  • Implementing search on a Sharepoint 2007 installation

.. cuz search is good for the body mind and soul. Okay let me start this blogpost with a customary ritual of saying, “SharePoint” = WSS + MOSS, so this post applies to both. But search behaves differently between MOSS & WSS. The biggest difference is, WSS will search within its site collection, i.e. it can’t crawl the entire farm for you with different URLs. MOSS on the other hand can accept search rules and can be pointed to crawl, say a BDC, network location, your company website, your blog – whatever the heck you want. Differences aside, here is how you setup searchin’ in SharePoint 2007. 1. After you have installed SharePoint, go under Operations, and Services on the Server. 2. Under there, start up Office SharePoint Server Search. Read...
