Using Firebug and jQuery

A recent episode of the Polymorphic Podcast includes jQuery Secrets with Dave Ward. During our discussion Dave mentioned some techniques and tools to use alongside Firebug and jQuery. After our interview we got together again to record this video that demonstrates:

  • How to install Firebug
  • Firebug basics
  • How to inject jQuery into just about any page using jQuerify
  • Building selectors with SelectorGadget
  • How to interactively manipulate pages on the fly

Dave is a powerhouse of knowledge and experience in this area – enjoy the video!

Update: Dave and I re-recorded the video and made it available in higher-quality formats. Check out Updated Video for ‘Using Firebug and jQuery’ Post for details.

Safari also has great web dev tools - definitely worth checking out. In the Windows version of Safari you have to enable it in Preferences -> Advanced  -> Show Develop menu in menu bar

Could you repost the video so that it is larger and maybe setup that playback control so we can watch it full screen.  Can't see what is being typed and otherwise hard to see.
