DevDays Whidbey Version (and beyond)

Has there ever been an official word on what version of Whidbey will be available at DevDays? I'm already signed up, so I guess the matter is academic, but I'm still kinda curious. There seems to be noises about a new version, but nobody seems sure.

Also, wouldn't it be great if DevDays attendees got onto the public betas for Whidbey? Somehow, I ended up on the public betas for Everett, and it was an interesting trip. I even got a t-shirt out of it for submitting some noteworthy bug. Free T-shirts are always good.

(Update: I asked this question because since a few weeks ago, there seems to be new information pointing to a new version of Whidbey, as opposed to the PDC version. Plus, like someone else said, the PDC bits will be almost eight months old by then :( and the first beta is due out soon, isn't it?)

(Update2: Since I forget the heart of blogging, the links, here's the link to the article that made me try to ask for clarification. I must admit, I'm not sure where he got the eight month figure from, but I'm sure that the PDC build was a little older than one day before the PDC. http://wesnerm.blogs.com/net_undocumented/2004/02/whidbey_tech_pr.html)

I'll just add to the confusion, and point to Laura John's post the says it is the PDC version:

Here's my post: http://weblogs.asp.net/donxml/archive/2004/01/20/60826.aspx

And Laura John's: http://weblogs.asp.net/lauraj/archive/2004/01/20/60870.aspx

It is the PDC version. I don't see where I said a new version was being distributed. In fact, I've commented on a few blogs already that it will be the PDC bits. Unfortunately, we do not currently have a mechanism that allows us to push builds out to thousands of external people in a timely fashion. We are working very hard to make it easier and quicker for us to make community drops in the future (yeah!!!).

Where did this eight months old figure come from? The PDC was the last week of October 2003. So, November, December, January, February, and a couple weeks in March for most DevDays events........that looks more like 4 or 5 months. Granted, a lot has changed but the facts should be out there. =)

"Visual Studio .NET "Whidbey" Technology Preview" == the PDC bits

My bad... I meant that a "public" version of whidbey would be out, not a private version (ie technical beta). The link referenced was Alex's actual statement, not my botch!

Yes, a fork in the build was done prior to the PDC so the build is technically older than one day before the PDC started. The bits aren't eight months old to you though. =)

This spawned lots of debate, I must say. I'm aware that the bits won't be eight months old to me, but I'll *know* that not only are they old, but there has been lots of work done since then.

I was using the PDC version of Whidbey in at the end of July/beginning of August eight months from this coming March, when DevDays starts. (I did some contract work at Microsoft)

FWIW, anyone who actually know that truth will not be allowed to tell you so all the speculation is just speculation.

Whatever 'the truth' is won't be on a blog until a few days/weeks before DevDays.
