Request for enhancement of MSDN Subscriber Downloads...

Yesterday, I (half) jokingly asked where the torrent for the download of Visual Studio 2005 is. Today, after about 12 hours of downloading, with one "Interrupted" download, two Burned DVDs, and about four attempts to install (it will not install SQL Express 2005 :( One of the files seems to have a CRC mismatch ) I can safely request some enhancements to the Download Manager.

The first wouldn't even be an enhancement to the download manager itself, but a CRC check tool to make sure the download is good.

The second would be that the download manager could ensure the integrity of the file as it comes across, and correct errors if it detects them.

With these GB, and multi GB downloads, it's really necessary to avoid lengthy wasted downloads. I'm reattempting my download now to make sure the ISO isn't corrupt (which is my first guess because nobody else is screaming about failed installs...)

Notes: This is Standard, not Team System. Used Nero and DVDBurn from the Windows XP Resource Kit. Also trying to read the ISO with the Virtual CD Control Panel stuff from MS.

I actually had the downloader up and running since last night only to discover in the morning that it was "Interrupted". It would be nice if it has an auto-resume feature.

If it gets interrupted, just pause, wait a bit, and resume. Works just fine for me. There is also an option to put the download manager on the desktop, so you can resume downloads later too.

I Dld the 3GB+ TS Image.
The setup of sql express also crashes on my machine.
CRC ISO is 0xDBA899B1 (used the CRC32 tool some where in the tools-section of the SubscriberDLs, don't know if its working with > 2GB files, since it reports negtive number of bytes). So i used this tool also
http://www.pc-tools.net/files/win32/freeware/md5sums-1.2.zip
It reports 70a25ea65d9ba0ed70c7156b12aeff60

The sqlexpress installpackage is in the \vs\wcu\sse folder of the ISO, trying to install it manually right now.

SqlExpress setup seems to fails on start of service. In the eventlog errors appear saying that serivce "MSSQL$SQLEXPRESS" failed to start because the depending service "netlogon" coudln't be started (netlogon says "no need to start, not a domain computer, which is right)....

I downloaded Team System Beta 2 shortly after release and if you extract the ISO file with the most recent version of IsoBuster 1.7 it works perfectly. However if you use other tools like WinRAR the setup will fail.

# Cannot install either Team or Standard

Standard cannot copy a file off the DVD - percalc.exe - even though I've burnt two DVD's in case of a bad burn.
Team cannot copy some assembly DLL. Can't remember the name. Again, tried twice.
Do we have MD5 hashes for these to verify DVD images? And version numbers. The release cycle seems pretty weak on the information side of things.
