ISO Image Tools
G. Andrew Duthie and Phil Scott mention tools for manipulating ISO (CD) images. I thought that I might post the tools I commonly use to manage ISO's.
- Nero Burning ROM lets you burn just about any CD image format, including ISO's (File -> Burn Image), and is the least bloated, most reliable, and most updated burning program I have found.
- IsoBuster, WinISO (abandoned?), and UltraISO (my fav) are all similar. Particulary, WinISO was great for converting obscure cd image files to ISO's (until Nero gained support for those formats that is...). UltraISO is pretty much a faster implementation of WinISO's functionality.
- Daemon Tools (free) and Alcohol %120 (demo) let you mount CD images to virtual CD drives without even burning them. Alcohol even lets you make working backups of copy protected games. Definately a good thing to have at $40-$60 a pop these days.
**Update**
Adam Hill reminds us that the .IMG files found on MSDN must be renamed to .ISO to use the tools above.
