  • Axis 2.0 - It's been a long time coming

This is great news... For a long time, Axis has been the best way to of web services in Java, but its never played nice with the doc/literal folks. Among other things, Axis now supports "document-oriented, message style asynchronous service interactions"

  • VSTS Install: Is it me or the flu medicine?

Ok, so I've been home today sick with the flu and I figured I would see if I could make any headway toward getting VSTS working.  I started this saga last weekend when I installed the application tier and data tiers successfully (or so I thought).  That night I attempted to connect to the TFS from my client and received a cryptic error about the elead web service.  I decided to punt and go to bed (it was 1 a.m.)

So, after quite a bit of work today here's where I'm at.  I'm fairly certain the app tier and data tier are now installed correctly.  I've dug through the logs and nothing is throwing an error.  That said, here's my problem from the client.

When I attempt to create a new Team Project I get the following error when I finish the wizard:

"Project creation failed with error: "No user identity info returned from GSS"".

Now I assume the problem is that the user I'm logged in as on the client machine (mydomain\tfssetup) is not configured as a TFS user.  But when I try to add a user via the Permissions dialog the Add button is always disabled.  Now I'm stuck...

Anyone out there know what this error means (or better yet how to fix it)?

  • VSTS Install: Wish me luck

I'm embarking on a quest to install VSTS on my laptop today using Virtual PC to host the various OS's needed...  I've armed myself with several blog posts to guide me along the way... Hopefully this will go as easy for me as it did for Michael...

[Update: Well, the Data Tier is done... Moving on to the Application Tier]

[Update: The application tier says it installed successfully]

  • Gettin' Back on the Horse

Wow... That was a seriously protracted leave of absence from blogging.  Over 4 months since my last post... Jeez...  What surprises me is that Bloglines (my new favorite RSS reader)still shows that 86 people are subscribed.  Hopefully that means that some people will notice I'm writing again...

Anyway, it's been a strange few months....  There was the holidays (both Thanksgiving and Christmas), a death in my immediate family, my other writing gig, and just general laziness that prevented me from blogging, but I have to say I'm a bit recharged.  Maybe it's b/c work is shaking up a bit; I don't know, but I'm looking forward to getting back to publishing RSS rather than just consuming it...
