I guess Robocopy does NOT solve all the world's woes
I'm a Robocopy ADDICT! I can't remember a time (okay, I guess I can) that I didn't use Robocopy on a daily basis, primarily for supplementary backups. I wanted to use Robocopy to copy certain home office files on a regular basis to HQ with VPN, but darn if I can pass my authentication to HQ for RoboCopy to create files and directories, even though my NET USE statement correctly passes my network username and password.
Oh, I could change the permissions on the HQ server and set EVERYONE read-write-modify on the recipient folder and it would work, but I don't do that sort of thing. Haven't for a long time.
The home office PC I'm using to VPN is a Windows 2000 server. I know there's a RoboCopy for W2K3, but it probably would have the same problem. Then again, maybe its one of those rocket science network firewall-protocol-port-solar-equinox types of issue?
I'll never say anything bad about Robocopy. Can't do it. Any alternative ideas are welcome. I'll explore other options of getting a bunch of files to HQ. I've got this CDR drive I could use....
