Love Firebird, also love this plugin which lets to force the browser window to common sizes, adjust image and form handling, and otherwise dissect what asp.net is sending you.

The browser war is only back on inside the geek community. Very few people outside the geek community have any idea what Firebird is let alone use it. I don't have any statistics handy but the last ones that I saw (in July) showed IE with roughly 85-90% of market share and the other 10% is divided up by a bunch of other browsers - netscape, opera, etc.

Browser "war" in the geek community? I dont think there is any war as any recent browser (mozilla, fb, camino, you-name-it) can take the outdated IE for a walk.

I agree that for non-techies, IE reigns and will reign.

I agree with VGA, suprisingly. I believe the war is over, standards is going to win, sooner or later. If MS doesn't take a serious commitment to them, I believe Firebird is going to eat that 90% faster than they think...
And as Mozilla polishes their Gecko Runtime Environment, I don't have a doubt that developers will stop squeezing their brains with damn IE proprietary stuff and start embedding Gecko rendering in their apps: cross platform (read Mono) and W3C compatible. Great! :D
Did you know the Mozilla WebBrowser ActiveX is already 100% interface compatible with the IE WebBrowser control? Did you know Mozilla supports Rich editing works just like IE does?
I could go on for hours naming things Mozilla can emulate from IE, not to start with standards-comliance....

You can get a hint about the browser usage from the <a href="http://www.google.com/press/zeitgeist.html">Google Zeitgeist</a>. Perhaps one shouldn't trust these statistics 100%, as not everyone uses Google to the same extent, but whatever.
