I haven't seen anyone else write about this yet, but I thought it was was a pretty signifigant sign of the times. Some guy called up the show and he says something like: "Howard, I have a question for ya. What's this new thing on the Internet I'm hearing about called 'blogging'?"
Ok, first off... when did Howard Stern become a technology expert? Don't get me wrong, I love Stern, but I've heard him spew about technology before and he's just completely misinformed on certain subjects. I've even wanted to call in at times and correct him, but... what's the point, right? ;)
Anyway, Stern started off describing them correctly in that he called it an online journal, but then someone else chimed in and they ended up expanding it to anyone who runs their own web site. I don't think this is correct because weblogs are more structured than just a free-form web site (i.e. cataloged by date/time). Then there's the syndication aspect of it (RSS).
The point of this entry is that it really hit home with me today that weblogging has become as mainstream today as having your own web site was back in 1995.
