Camera Phone

I picked up the new T610 a few weeks ago. I decided on this phone because it had bluetooth and a camera.  I've been pretty disappointed with the bluetooth support in XP, but I am quite happy with the camera.  After emailing some pictures around I decided to setup a “moblog”.  As always, I decided to build my own application rather than using existing websites.

The version of the moblog updating tool I wrote last night is able to get attachments from POP, and FTP them to another location and generate an RSS feed for the entries.  Considering it was written in one night, there is some pretty hackish code in it, but it works.  Tonight I'm working on re-architecting to support plug-ins for publishing.  I'd like to support some of the blog api's and some of the other services available.

I need a new phone, I think my v66 melted or something when I was in Hawaii.

I went into the T-Mobile store and was going to get that phone, except it's out of stock and they have no timetable for when it might be back in again.

I was also looking at the couple of Samsungs (S105 and v205). I prefer the flip form factor I think, but those are a little bulky compared to my v66.

I'd love to hear any insight you have. Can you use the camera to make a photo phonebook?

The T610 is very nice and the T616 is a nice upgrade. The camera does a better job then my old T300+MCA25. So far my P800 and Nokia 3650 both take comparable shots. The pic on I posted here of the P800 was taking with my 3650. Also check out http://www.sonyericsson.com/t610 for SE's mobile image newsletter.

I got my phone through Amazon. They have some really good rebates if you are getting new service.

I've heard they are coming out with a version of the T61x series that will be a flip phone, but I could not afford to wait any longer.

I dont think you can create a photo phone book but it does support doing photo caller ID. Having the picture of the person that is calling is pretty nice.

I love my T68i so the T610 should be a great phone also. I'm waiting for the successor to the P800 before I upgrade again. I love SE's designs, and the new Z600 (flip phone version of T610) isn't anything to write home about, except it has a much improved screen.
