Instant Messenger 7 - good and bad

I installed the new beta version of the Instant Messenger client last week.  The UI is really nice and they've added some great new features.  The 2 most obvious of these are "Nudges" and "Winks".  Nudges allow you to "shake" the IM client of the person that you are chatting with... I haven't really worked out when is the optimum time to use these yet.

"Winks" are small flash animations that you can send to the other person.  They are like a supercharged version of the emoticons and very good for emphasising and emotion in a bold manner.

In my opinion, these 2 features add to the whole communication experience and make it worthwhile to upgrade.

The downside is that this product is beta...I seem to consistently get messages that fail to get sent to the other participant where I receive the following message:

     "The following message could not be delivered to all recipients"

Very annoying and, at times this makes it nearly impossible to communicate.

Or until MSFT-MSN (or any sort of spyware org) decides to start advertising using the Winks before you can have a conversation with others...

I like to keep things nice and light with my IM clients and have it give me the ability to extend it how I please, like with plugins.

And I've also set it up so that Winks don't get played unless I press the button to play it. (Always handy too).

Hrm... I guess that nullifies out two of the new features...

has to be connected to the handwriting recog. Install WinXP Tablet on your desktop and the the MSN messenger version that comes with itgives this error consistently too.

If this super irritating shit makes it to the final non-beta MSN messenger - as it did in the case of tablet pc .. I'll be seriously considering trillian over MSN.

Hi, I had the same problem, my messages couldn't be delivered, but just with the msn messenger, the windows messenger worked fine, I checked in the control panel in add/remove programs, and I had both msn messengers installed, 6.2 and 7 (beta), I uninstalled the 6.2 and voila! it worked for me, I have no more problems.

I hope this works for you, spread the message a lot of people have this issue.

Tools > Options > Messages > Unlick “Show the Handwrite tab in conversation windows”

Sign out > Exit > Open MSN back up

Hopefully should work for u guys…I had the same prob.
