David Stone's Blog

I'm open to suggestions for a subtitle here! (Really!)

NewsGator (Or: The cause and effect universe)

Cause: Having several thousand unread posts in SharpReader due to negligence on my part in actually reading blogs over the past month or so.

Effect: I'm downloading NewsGator...and I'll probably buy it. I run Outlook so much that it makes sense for me to keep everything in one app. Even though I had previously said:

/*
As for the comments about my bookmarking posts in SharpReader, and how that would be available in NewsGator/Outlook...I prefer to have my blog stuff and my e-mail separate. There are times when I shut down my aggregator, but still need Outlook open, in order to focus on what I need to do. I wouldn't be able to do that with NewsGator and would inevitably be drawn to reading blogs. But this has all been said before...so I won't go into it again. :)
*/

Anyway, I just think I'll be able to better keep track of everything if it's all in one place. Also, I'm slimming down the number of blogs I read. Trying to subscribe to everybody is ridiculous. So Greg, you just got yourself another convert. :)

When Outlook 2002 went down, thus so did Newsgator, I was at a loss. I tried using Sharp reader and yes I was impressed, but it still required another click of an icon when doing my routine 'Net Check' of email,CP and blogs. Which could previously be done by just Outlook and Firebird.
However Outlook 2003 has solved my problems and Newsgator is once again working. :-)
You should download the .Text plugin once installed, that way you can post blogs from Outlook.
