Desert Code Camp Is This Saturday (May 31st)

Arizona's Desert Code Camp is this Saturday (May 31st) at the University of Advanced Computing building.  Here's the address:

University of Advancing Technology
2625 W. Baseline Road (map)
Tempe, Arizona 85283

It looks like there are a lot of great talks scheduled covering everything from iPhone development to game development to line of business applications.

I'll be giving a talk titled Integrating Data Into Silverlight 2 Applications (slides and code here) on behalf of Interface Technical Training which is scheduled to start at 11:20 AM and run for about an hour.  I'll cover several different things in the talk such as:

  • Cross-domain policy files
  • Calling WCF and ASMX Services with Silverlight 2
  • Getting data from RESTful services
  • Data streaming options
  • Binding data to controls
  • Socket support in Silverlight 2 (an example of the sample socket application is shown next)

Swing on by if you have some time Saturday.  Desert Code Camp is completely free so it's a great way to learn about different topics if you or your company is on a tight budget.

John,

Yeah...that one's right up your alley. :-)  For those not familiar with John Papa, he's a friend of mine who writes for MSDN magazine and is working on a new book on data integration with Silverlight.  Check out his blog at http://www.johnpapa.net.  Great blog if you aren't already subscribed.
