System.Web.Mail Explained - Part 3

Wow, I can’t belive how long its been since I’ve last blogged. Time has just flown by.

Well, I’ve been putting off Part 3, which deals with specifically working with System.Web.Mail, but I finally got around to it. Every time I started on this part, I kept saying this is way too large, and felt it needed its own website, in the form of a FAQ. So I built one. You can see it here: System.Web.Mail, OH MY! at http://www.SystemWebMail.com If I’ve missed anything, feel free to let me know.

Just as an outline, here are some of the FAQs I cover.

Cheers!
Dave

Great site Dave! Looks awesome to boot. One suggestion though. Do you think it would be possible to take you to the actual text below the TOC when you click on a link? Might make it a little easier to navigate.

Information Product Development: Four Types of Home Study Courses

When you teach a class live, students are gathered together either in a physical classroom or a virtual one, and a teacher lectures or leads the students in a discussion around a sequence of topics. Unless your course concerns a sensitive issue, where students need to feel comfortable to speak their minds only to those in the group, you're smart to record your sessions and turn them into a home study course. That way, you've multiplied your earnings from the preparation you've done. However, what type of home study course should you choose? There actually are numerous kinds.Four Types of Home Study Courses1. The semi-live course. When you taught a course prveiously and recorded it, the next time you teach it to a group, you can have the students listen to (or watch) one of the previous recordings prior to each class meeting. Then during your live sessions you can review the material, answer questions and assist participants in applying the content to their challenges. This is a hybrid of a live course and a home study course, using some canned material in conjunction with teacher-student interaction. Generally you'd run the semi-live course for the same number of weeks as for the previous live version and charge the same amount as for the live course.Advantages for participants: Plenty of time for support and feedback during the class sessions; the class schedule provides a structure for moving through the course that's missing with the other options belowAdvantages for you: Little preparation needed; a low-stress way to provide the benefits of a live course repeatedly; very high perceived value2. Canned course with one-on-one feedback or coaching. Here you offer a course recorded on audio or video or via a step-by-step text manual. Besides consuming the lessons, your students can submit homework assignments to you for feedback or have their questions and concerns addressed via personal emails or telephone coaching calls. Many instructors report that most enrollees do not take full advantage of the feedback or coaching option.Advantages for participants: Can be sure they're on track in mastering the material and applying it to their goalsAdvantages for you: High perceived value and the ability to charge much more for this kind of course than for types 3 or 4 below; small time commitment needed to supply the coaching or feedback promised3. Canned course with interactive exercises. Participants in this kind of course go through it on their own but also have the opportunity to check their progress and mastery, through quizzes with answers provided or homework assignments that they can compare to typical or ideal answers.Advantages for participants: Opportunities to determine whether or not they're truly mastering the ideas and skills in the courseAdvantages for you: No time of yours needed beyond selling the course4. Canned course with no feedback or interaction. You provide the learning materials that buyers go through completely on their own. They need the greatest amount of self-discipline to complete this kind of course, and it lacks the engagement factor of types 1, 2 and 3 above.Advantages for participants: For some, a familiar, straightforward learning opportunityAdvantages for you: Easiest to prepare; sell it and you're doneBased on my experiences teaching live courses and selling all the home study permutations above, I can tell you that the semi-live course generates by far the greatest level of customer satisfaction and the lowest refund rate. On the other hand, if you'd like to sell the most number of courses at the most reasonable price, the completely canned course wins, while offering students a reasonably good learning experience.

Techniques Used by Nonprofits for Fundraising

Every organization needs funds and there are different techniques that can be used. With the first technique the nature of the nonprofit organization matters and one can create awareness for events. There are nonprofits that can have weekly events for example gathering of members or seminar and the goal is creating awareness in regard to certain topics that are relevant socially. Some participation fee or entry fee can then be collected from the members.Sponsorship is also one of the techniques used by nonprofits. Corporate are expected to give back to the society through social responsibilities and many of the corporate are taking part in such activities. Consequently the non profits can offer the necessary help in that. The corporate can then offer sponsorship in different ways. For example it may be on the basis of per event or per month. Some corporate will meet certain expenditures. This meant that depending on the kind of help that is needed, the best corporate to approach is one that is in a relevant field. A good example is when a nonprofit is in need of stationery and then it seeks for help from manufacturer or dealer in stationery. One the techniques used by nonprofits is branding of the organization. Non profits fall under the social sector therefore they can act as ambassadors for a brand of the organization that offers partnership or sponsorship. For instance, depending on the amount that a corporate sponsors you with, you can generate some posters for it. Having massive posters is recommendable when a corporate or organization sponsors your event fully. A further step can be taken whereby you a session during a seminar can be dedicated to promoting the sponsoring organization. To create and sell some products is one of the techniques used by non profits to arise funds and to brand. Bags and t-shirts can be made for a particular event. For instance, during the season fo world cup, good t-shirts that support your country can be made. On its sleeve or its bottom right corner, you can put a small lofo belonging to your organization. Generally, you will have some surplus after selling these items. You can promote the sale of your products through websites for social networking or through blogs. The advantage is that you will not have incurred any costs in terms of investment. The fifth technique is appropriate for nonprofit that offer services. Some of the services that you can provide for corporate include event management, to promote campaign planning or even data entry. The best way when using this technique to raise funds is charging a fee that is not equal to that of the market. The embers of the nonprofit gain valuable experience through this technique as they raise some funds for the organization. To plan and to implement Product promotion requires some strategic planning.Note that to raise funds is an art when you are creative, arre zealous and passionate, you will not experience difficulties and the ideal benefits are reaped.
