I got the telephone line installed and the ADSL connection is ordered for Slough - have held back on servers just yet as I have a gut feeling the market might get cheaper next month - in the meantime priority has been the modem/wifi AP for Slough.
I'm amazed - you can start at £56 for a perfectly good product but soon end up paying well over £100 for exactly the same spec'd kit - here is the best deal I could find in the UK.
I've been waiting in great anticipation for the arrival of my MSDN Universal subscription which arrived today! Since leaving corporatedom 3-4 years ago this is the one thing I have missed more than anything.
But before I can get to play there are a few things to get done.
- order the new servers for mystartup to build the staging domain environment
- get the old AMD-K6 from Witney and rebuild with ISA Server and combine with the new ServeGate SG100 firewall we will soon own and voila a nice hard/soft dmz to protect our staging environment at mystartup HQ
- order an ADSL wifi-router as the ADSL in Witney was running via the USB modem in the AMD-K6
- order the ADSL residential connection for Slough for remote management at the weekends
So, off I trot...
It was great to meet core members of the Rainbow team in London a few weeks ago and since that meeting we've started to affirm our commitment to making Rainbow ready for Whidbey.
