There was a huge run in the news on this a few months back. Lasted about a month and described the acquisition in huge detail, including the verbal statement by Starbucks and SBC that the acqusition would not result in the loss of SBC stores or result in a change of merchandise/coffee product.

However, later news stories have noted that upwards of 40 of SBC's 300 or so stores are being closed based on profitability or proximity to Starbucks locations. I can also remark that it is possible Starbucks will begin requring SBC stores to buy cheaper product line for use in the stores as a way to bump profits. While some of these aren't bad, such as cheaper milk because of a larger bulk discount, some if it will be, like Starbucks coffee being pushed into yet another location and being renamed as Seattle's Best Coffee.

A PDF warning would be nice, nobody likes clicking on links to have the explorer.exe and iexplorer.exe hang for half a minuite while it loads up all the plugins for acrobat reader.

Here in Georgia, a couple of years ago SBC signed a deal with Borders to take over their in-store cafes (at least for those Borders here in Georgia -- I don't know if the deal extended to the rest of the Borders chain).
So now Starbucks runs many of the cafes in both bookstore chains... that may be a reason they want to keep the SBC name at least for awhile.
