Adult Swim Finally Screws Up

After months of great late-night cartoons, which included the brilliant acquisitions of Family Guy and Futurama, the Cartoon Network has decided to drop Aqua Teen Hunger Force to one 15 minute episode a week (on Sundays at midnight) instead of the twice daily dosage many of us have become accustomed to. The way I see it, fans have several options:

1. Boycott altogether...but let's be serious--it's just a set of cartoons :-)

2. Watch Sealab 2021 and learn to enjoy it. Although it seems pretty stupid, so did ATHF when I first came across it. Now I own the DVDs.

3. Buy the DVDs and watch them when we would have watched the same episodes on TV.

Let's hope it won't take as many blog entries to bring it back as it took for Family Guy--because I'm willing to do it!

I can't support your campaign. Perhaps I'm in the minority, but I believe the cartoons you've mentioned to be some of the lamest excuses for content (even over many of the "reality" shows) I've seen. The sooner they drop them and start showing quality material, the sooner I'll start watching Adult Swim on a regular basis.

You are correct, though. This is just cartoons. :)

I did get Tivo for just these types of situations.

Honestly, I think it's like drug dealers - get you hooked, pull the plug, make you get the DVD's. After all, that's a better long-term strategy for them than finding the 4 or 5 "ideal" cartoons and running them forever.

Ed: Sealab (at least the ones before Harry Goz died) will give you just as many laughs as ATHF does. I can almost guarantee it. To be honest I'm starting to grow weary of the ATHF overload. If they started airing new episodes, that would be a different story though. Actually I kinda wish they'd bring Home Movies back into the weekday rotation. I think its the most under-ratedest cartoon of them all.
