I'm convinced they like to toy with my emotions. Here are a few fun snippets: They recently sent me a “Companion Ticket” for flying 25,000 miles with them last year.
I rebooked with Frontier and disptued the credit card charges. I've been credited the charges by the credit card company. I used up all of my United miles by purchasing gifts off their website and have sworn them off.

No more United for me.

If you go the the FAA website, and then link to the Air Travel Consumer Report, you will find information on many aspects of air travel. The denied boardings are on page 28. I looked at the May 2004 report as this is the most recent and complete month. The order of the top 15 airlines - denied boardings, starting with the best performer (airline with the least number of DB's) are as follows: Skywest (a UA partner), Jet Blue, American Eagle, Hawaiian, US Air, American, America West, United, Air Tran, Northwest, Continental, ATA, Southwest, Delta, Alaska. United is in 8th place, not at the bottom of the list as you indicate.

If you look at the major 10 carriers, United ranks #5 (Hawaiian, USAir, AA, America West, UA, NW, CO, Southwest, Delta and Alaska.

Tim

re: My Eternal Struggle With United Airlines

>>>Yeah, ... will probably continue to use them whenever they're the cheapest option. Go figure.

This is why they are still in business and doing what they do to passengers. Once you have some perceived value in FF benefits they've got you hooked.

Walk away. The funny thing was that 95% of the flight was a group of freaking grade school kids. It's not like the group of kids would loose 10 people. Needless to say, there were issues. So, they tell us that if we take another flight an hour later, we'd get free round trip tickets. Great! We sign right up. Unfortunately (and we weren't told this), the flight was at another airport. 50 minutes away. They hustle our bags and ourselves into a taxi, and we bust ass to another airport. Turns out, we were put on standby. With 15 other people. Stuck in D.C. at 11pm with no flights and no one to talk to. I wander the airport looking for someone to simply help us. I eventually find some guy helping a someone who lost their luggage. He gets me on the phone with someone at United who apologizes and offers to put us up in a hotel for the night. And we are talking Motel 6 type hotel.

Now, I'm not the type of person to get angry. But I can be pretty sarcastic. And my sarcasm must have came through loud and clear, and my mom, aunt, myself and cousin had two $300 dollar a night hotels in downtown DC, with free lunch and breakfast and taxi cabs courtesy of the people with egg on their face.

Argh.
