New Idea.........SOMEONE STEAL THIS QUICK!!

How's this for an idea?

I'm tired of having to always add terms to my MS Word dictionary like “DevDays”. It annoys me to see the little red underline under terms like that. I think MS should provide some kind of dictionary update that includes these terms. TechEd. DevDays, etc. etc. Maybe even automate it. How about some kind of dictionary updater program or RSS feed or something? People could subscribe to the dictionary updates that apply to the type of work that they do.

Is this crazy? Does this already exist?

What do you think?

Sounds cool. How about if all proper nouns in MS Word were handled though some kind of service like this. What would make it really cool is if it showed up as a link (optionally, or perhaps from the context menu) that took you to a directory for that word. For example, if I had a Word doc with the last name "Lincoln" in it, I could right click and have a menu option to see the "Lincoln" directory with links to popular "Lincoln"s such as the president, car manufacturer, and cities. It would be nice if they were categoriezed by types (person, place, event, thing, etc)

Hmm.... the idea Jim has sounds like the concept behind SmartTags... to bad that never really made it as a comerical product. Perhaps though, someone could use the SmartTags API and combine it with a web service to really make this a powerful system, have an RSS Feed for updating the dictionary and resource information, smart tags for displaying additional information about terms and keywords... and then of course you'd have to do it all for next to free to make it popular. If only I had spare time...

this idea has been thought of before.. but this carries with it risk of people collaboratively junking up the dictionary with mispellings. the only way this could work if it were categorized and that were to be visible in Word's dictionary suggestion menu.

Uhhhh.......What?

The idea I was describing has nothing to do with people junking anything up. But people can do that now anyway, by adding whatever they want.

I'm talking about an Office update that comes from MS.
