Bought a new toy....well.......sort of.

When it comes to laundry, I'm lazy. No really...I am. I admit it. My wife and I have had a constant small battle for years over the laundry. For some reason you need some kind of friggin degree to correctly wash and dry a load of my wifes clothes. As for me, I throw all my stuff in the washer, wash it, dry it, DONE. ABC, 123, DONE. It's that simple. Ironing? What's an iron? I never use the thing.

Anyway, our washer and dryer both died about a month and a half ago. So for a short interim solution, we were taking our clothes to the local laundry mat. HOLY COW! That crap is expensive! The owners of that joint are making a killing! When we realized that we had spent about 1/5 the cost of a new washer, we decided it was time to go shopping.

For the sake of making laundry easier, and because I like big toys, I talked my wife in getting the mac daddy of dryers. Mainly because it was the floor model, and we got a great deal on it. We nabbed the Maytag Neptune with Drying cabinet. Check it out:
Pictures here.

You can hang your clothes in the upper cabinet, and dry them wrinkle free. Need to refresh a shirt and get the wrinkles out? Just throw it up into the cabinet, and viola! There is a bottle in the lower chamber that you can fill with water that it uses to add the right amount of humidity. It also has these mesh shelves you can use to lay a sweater, hat, or even shoes on to dry. I'll be home all day Wednesday just waiting for the guys from Best Buy to show up with our delivery................

Washer? Oh yeah. We picked up an LG front loading washer.
Picture here.

Even though the buttons are on the front, it is safe from our toddler. You can't open the door during operation, and the controls havea a child lock feature. Cool stuff........
How sad is it that I'm looking forward to doing laundry this week?

UPDATE:

I just realized by looking at the picture of the dryer that is has two funny buttons for the upper drying chamber. ("Add Fragrance" and "Remove Odor") That's hillarious!! I guess remove odor is perfect for the single guy (you know who you are) who may have only "worn that shirt once or twice" and you just want to "remove the funk" from it. :)

Wow! I had no idea about those Neptune washers. I hope we don't have any trouble with the Neptune dryer. Thanks for the heads up. I'll have to keep an eye out for issues. At least we went with a non-Maytag washer. Now I'll have to go research customer satisfaction with the LG brand of washers.....

Sad? Sure. But then I'm not really one to talk. I waited around all day for our new couch to arrive 2 weeks ago. And it doesn't even DO anything. It just SITS there! ;-)

I'd be all into a new couch myself. Nothing wrong with that! I would be sure to bleed the last bit of usage out of the old couch by playing Xbox games until the new one arrived.
