Technical Speaking
I finally got around to reading Don's entry, where he mentions some things about how his presentation went.
Since I started speaking, I've found that the bullets on the slides are really only there for people who want a quick glance of what you're talking about.
It might be bad, I haven't really gotten any feedback on it yet, but I noticed half the time, I don't even follow the bullets. I just make sure to stay on topic for the current slide and say things, just as if I were talking to someone, doing my best to explain to them about a subject they have a question about.
I also always try to show just how excited I am about the technology and how much I love it, in hopes that everyone in the room will "feel the love" :D
I've found my only problem is, I end up being boring...it's really hard to sqeeze in jokes on the fly (at least for me anyway).
I love watching other speakers and seeing how they do. Picking up on things they do wrong, that I am also doing, to help myself remember for next time I give a presentation. Pick up on all the great things they do and bow down to them and do my best to pick up what I can and learn from them.
In the grand scheme of it all, I'm still pretty new. I've only given about 4 presentations or so far (although I'm signed up for two more within the next month), so take anything I've said with a grain of salt. I'm still learning too!
Would any other bloggers like to share their experiences, tips, etc. I just saw this, but haven't had time to read it yet (I'm sure it's great). Any other speakers care to share?
