CodeSmith Generator 6.0–Editor in Action

I thought the best way to show our progress so far would be to show you a quick video of the new editor in action. So without further adieu, here is the new CodeSmith Generator 6.0 editor:

In general, I think our editing experience is already about 10 times better than it was before.  Not even counting the fact that it’s integrated right into Visual Studio now.  We still have some work to do, but we will be releasing a beta version soon.

  • Freaking cool. Now give me a Razor implementation. :)

Congrats to the team. This will be a very welcome enhancement to CodeSmith!

  • Tyler, I agree. I really like the razor syntax. But I think completely going to that syntax might be a mistake for us since we have so many existing templates. I would like to borrow some features from it though. I really like the helper stuff and have this vision of creating libraries of helper extensions that could be plugged into your project via nuget.

  • I agree that you shouldn't move completely to Razor but providing the option to create new templates using Razor would be awesome!
