Is it a definite must to install SP2? I've got XP Home Edition and I'm not a happy camper since I downloaded SP2. It has completely deleted my Notepad+ program, which, made the regular M$ Notepad obsolete by the way and replaced my + version with the regular M$ regular version again.

I am sorry to hear about your issue with Notepad+. I can't find any info about that issue.
I'd suggest posting a question in the Application Compatibility newsgroup on the Expert Zone site:

More Help information about SP2 is available here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?pr=windowsxpsp2

Yes, you should install SP2. But don't just take our word for it. Do some research on the Web, in newsgroups and forums. I think you'll find that most experienced computing experts are recommending that their friends and family install SP2 as soon as possible.

Hi

Downloaded service pack 2 onto my hp pavilion 530 n and it killed my system. Now I have to wipe my harddrive with a total reboot. Thanks Microsoft.

After installing SP2, I was unable to connect to my ISP. I even disabled the firewall and reinstalled my connection software. It didn't work, so I uninstalled SP2, and everything works as well as it did before. What's up with that?

I installed SP2 on my notebook and it ate away about 1 GB of hard disk space. I have run Disk Cleanup, manually deleted temporary files etc.
I wonder if the SP2 download files are still on the system somewhere in the ever-expanding Windows folder, if so is there a safe way of deleting them?
