Forum Discussion: Sometimes errors occur for the most unlikely reasons, this time, Windows XP Professional won’t install due to bad RAM – Software Tips and Tricks.
This blog entry was gleaned from Software Tips and Tricks, a Featured Community Web site.
While attempting a fresh installation of Windows XP Professional, a user gets an error that the ntfs.sys file is corrupt. Trying another installation CD, he gets an error that the setup file is not a valid Windows XP system image. Believe it or not, somehow, popping out one of the 512 MG RAM memory sticks solved the problem and the installation completed just fine.
Beats me how they figured that one out.
