I am very frustrated and disappointed with Media Player 11's ability to handle playlists.  This was a major virtue of earlier versions, and now appears to be significantly downgraded (dumbed down really) in the new version.

Media player 11 does not appear to allow one to add playlists to a playlist, as media player 10 (and earlier) did.  This is a major loss of useability in my view.

I used to organize and change individual playlists, but then had a master playlist in which the category playlists were included (or nested, as it were).  I didn't need to ever change this "master" playlist, because it simply referenced the other playlists.

The fact that media player 11 does not permit this -- so far as I can see -- is a MAJOR shortcoming.  The process of adding individual media files not only means that the master needs to be constantly (and laboriously) edited, but this is also a virtually impossible task with long playlists -- as the scroll function moves very slowly.

What an incredible disappointment!

Am I missing something?

How can I print a playlist in media player 11? Help

Print playlist doesn't work as advertised, but here's a way that does work.  Assume you've installed "Windows Media Player Bonus Pack for Windows XP".  With WMP open and the current playlist open, select "file", "Save now playing list as". Type in a name that you'd like to use when the save as window opens, but make sure you add the "asx" extension e.g. "Rock Playlist.asx" The file should save in your "my playlists" folder.  Open up "Windowsmedia player playlist import to Excel Wizard".  In step 3, browse to the "my playlist" folder and you should see what you just saved there.

The stupidity of Microsoft to not allow us to do a simple print opperation from the program is amazing.  Plain stupidity.

I download songs off of limewire and I used to right click on my downloaded songs in order to add them to any one of my playlists. Now I cannot figure out any way to put my new songs onto any one of my playlists. Please help me. Is there a way to do this? If not, is there a way for me to get back the older version of Windows media player?

Very simple question I think - I installed the new version (hesitantly), and 11 doesn't recognize my existing playlists.  There doesn't seem to be an import function either.  I'm with Don - I'm constantly amazed by MS.

I'm not even sure what version of  Media Player I am currently running but, when downloading from Limewire, my downloads go to I tunes and not to the Media Player Library or my Music folder.  Also so many downloads are not playable on my player, that's why I have I Tunes also.  I need an ext. (.mpg) which will allow the player to play certain tracks.   I need to know if I can get that extension for Media Player?
