Resource Editor 1.1

I fixed some bugs and I added 2 new features:

  • Generate Images  (Tools/Generate Images)

This command will dump all bitmaps and icons as separated files in a selected folder.

  • Generate Resource Class (Tools/Generate Resource Class)

If you have a General.resx file then this command will generate a strongly resource class (I mean with a public property for each icon, bitmap or string in the resource). So that for example you can access to your string with GeneralResources.MyString

If the General.resx  is in a C# project then the generated file is added to the project.

In the new code you can find how to use DTE and handle commands in VSIPExtras.

Thanks for your feedback

You are right, I didn't add the folder DTE in the setup. I uploaded a new setup with this problem fixed.
Thanks for your testing :)

I created a new Editing Resx Files file named Images.resx and added a bitmap to it. Then chose Generate Resource Class from the Tools menu but nothing is happening. I am coding a VB.Net project, does this functionality only work in a C# project?

Yeap, it is only for c# sorry

I have noticed that you can't edit the Resource Name property once it has been set. Would this be a possibility? I think it would be a useful enhancement to an already useful tool!

Thanks.

Suggestions for new features:

1. Rename a resource.
2. Copy & Paste.
3. When creating a new resource, allow to do it without specifing an initial file.

Thanks.

it wont install on my pc. I got VS 2003 with WinXp Sp1.

When it starts installing during the 'updating compnent registration part I get this msgbox saying -
'Internal Error -2908' with a GUID below it. This happens 3 times in a row( with 3 diff guids).
Then all the files are copied during the 'publishing product information' part another msgbox pops up saying -
'Error 1935. An error occured during the installation of assembly component.
HRESULT: -2146234297'

Then the whole installation rolls back and i get a msgbox titled - 'Fatal Error'
and which says - 'installation ended prematurly because of an error'.

I have downloaded this and tried to compile but build fails giving bunch of errors. It mainly complains about Microsoft.VisualStudio etc. missing references. Is this a full code or missing something?

It is a full code, you have to install vsip sdk 2003 and vsipextras in order to compile the sample
