Last Monday, Julia Lerman talked a the Montreal Visual Studio User Group. Her subject was WSE 101. I must say that I learned quite a lot. Julia did a fantastic introduction to security, keys and crypto stuff that you need to know before trying to figure out WSE.

There's a vulnerability with ASP.NET Forms authentification. Check knowledge base 887459 for more information on this threat and how to implement a workaround.

Prochaine assemblée: Lundi le 4 octobre 2004
Les assemblées sont gratuites pour les membres. Un frais de 5$ est exigé pour les non-membres. Le membership est de 25$ par année et vous donne droit à assister aux assemblées mensuelles sans frais.

Sujet: Introduction aux Application Blocks de Microsoft.
Les Application Blocks sont du code réutilisable (avec de la documentation) qui fournissent une solution éprouvée pour des problèmes récurrent et commun. Les Application Blocks sont l'implémentation par Microsoft de solution prêt à utiliser pour solutionner des problèmes pour lequel vous dépenser temps et énergie à toute les fois que vous programmez. Cette présentation fournit une courte introduction aux 11 blocks présentement disponible chez Microsoft et vous démontre pourquoi chaque bloc est utile. L'idée est de présenter les types de problèmes que chaque bloc essaie de solutionner et quand les appliquer dans vos propres solutions.

Although WSE2 has a lot of new tools for plumbers, it is possible to do a lot of very cool and necessary stuff without having to comprehend and code all of the nasty details. However, there are still a lot of concepts you should have a solid understanding of before diving in to WSE2. This session is designed to explain the key parts of WSE that can and should be part of the basic functionality of any Web service dependent application that you are writing in your corporate environment.
