  • I just got a netbook. The author has it right - no need for the heft of laptop - true portability and true functionality and it fits in my purse. You can skype, listen to music (external speakers on headset), cruise the net, check email, make reservations, get information - you have ample storage - for most aps to run. You can "dock it" to your existing desktop machine via USB port cables and software (if you want), or to a bigger keyboard and mouse, and, in short - it offers PORTABILITY with the added security of knowing your propritary info is held securely elsewhere should you lose or have the netbook stolen. Unlike, say ... a laptop!! With the roll out of G4 cellular speeds will increase - but I have to say, this for me is "it"- the one device that does the work of multiple others, while offering
portablity. Now, if I could just figure out how get calls from the netbook - to use it as a cell phone too... (not just skyping) then I'd be in true blue gravy. Less devices to buy, more funtionality and portability.... = cost savings. No more $$$s flying out the door ....well, except to the cell carriers.
