SQL Express: the killer argument

perhaps you have read my first two SQL Express postings

(http://weblogs.asp.net/hpreishuber/archive/2005/02/27/381164.aspx, http://weblogs.asp.net/hpreishuber/archive/2005/02/26/380868.aspx)

Now i am really disappointed if this is true:

SQL EXPRESS BETA 2 WILL NOT RUN ON WINDOWS 2003

As read here in chat transcript

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/community/chats/trans/sql/SQL_081004.mspx

Beta 2 of visual studio will use for personalization providers ONLY SQL Express as data store. This means that i can not build any sensfull web application on beta 2. Or should i run it on IIS5? The urgently expected "GoLive" license is then without any value.

[UPDATE] a friend of me told me, that he is using Win2003 and the acutal B2 build  with SQL Express. I guess that the chat talks about B2 of SQL Express and not B2 of Visual Studio. Could be B3 of SQL Express.

[Update2] i use now SQL Express on Windwos 2003 Server (not web edition yet)

This may have been a misunderstanding, but here's a clarification:

With Beta 2, you can use any version of SQL with any of the application services, such as membership, roles, and personalization. However, by default, these services will use SQL Express, with an .mdf file in the Data directory, instead of Jet/Access, as they did with Beta 1. Jet/Access support is no longer in the product, but we plan on releasing these providers as a sample in the spring.
