.Text

As you all know, Scott Watermasysk released the blogging engine that powers the blogs here at weblogs.asp.net open source this week. Pinging him a few days on IM regarding referrals he mentioned, “I was hoping someone would contribute that!” with a *wink wink* and a *nudge nudge*. Given that I'm on a bit of a pause on nGallery, with a few pending issues still being worked on my other members of the project, I dove right in!

Let me just say, Scott does some really cool things in the .Text code! Especially the plumbing that handles a multi-blog blog, such as weblogs.asp.net. Really cool stuff. I'm having a lot of fun wrapping my head around it. We do things so different at Match.com, that I find that while I have a good understanding of .NET and ASP.NET, I have only touched the tip of the ice berg. At Match.com, we use very few built-in components. We typically write alot of them ourselves, subclassing many upper level classes. Be that good or bad, I don't know.

So, this is going to be a great experience. I love seeing how others code, and their design styles. I find that I tend to get into design ruts, often. It's hard to get creative and break free, and I think .Text is going to be a great experience for me.

But, please, go check it out!
