Anyone interested? Web-based aggregator project hand off.

Like I mentioned in my earlier post, I had started a web-based aggregator. I've actually got alot of the main architecture finished out, it's just the last 20%, as they say.

I hate for this project to go totally dead (I still love to read my feeds via it, in it's current limited capacity), and would love to hand it off to anyone that else that may be interested in taking it and heading it up. The only requirement is that it has to remain free and open source.

I've even registered aggreg8tor.com and will be willing to hand it off with the project, as well.

If anyone's interested, check it out at: http://ngallery.dyndns.org/aggreg8tor/

I'm intrested but I'd like to chat with you a bit about your vision for it and where you'd like to see it go. Also who's on aboard, the fan base, etc... you know all the good stuff.

Curious to see the finished version.

Good luck with it!

Hi Jason,

Mmm.. Your web based aggregator really looks familiar to mine : http://www.myblogroll.com !

Anyway, I'm still working on it and I'd be interested to see how you implemented and architectured your aggregator...

I've been so busy lately (as always...), I couldn't work that much on MyBlogroll ; but it's still under development and I really want to be able to provide it as a service.

In fact, I do have a version that works pretty well... All I need is a hosting server that would be able to handle such an application. Being student, it's pretty hard for me to handle that kind of expense... Anyway, I'll try to release it pretty soon.

Paul : Send me an e-mail, please? jason@ngallery.org - I would love to talk to you about all of that good stuff. :)

Thanks David!

Hey Julien! Yes, I used a lot of your look-and-feel as inspiration on mine, as well. You do incredible graphics work, of course. "Imitation is the greatest form of flattery".

Definitely would love to talk to you and compare notes. I know you and I talked early on about myblogroll, and at the time it was heavy XSLT. I would love to see what direction you went with it. Mine is literally a multi-threaded feed loader that runs in the background and updates the feeds every so often. And, the reader simply uses XSLT on the topics list and body view to format it.

There's a bit of database work with the users, tying what users have subscribed to what feeds, and what categories/folders they have them in, etc.. Pretty simple stuff, really.
