LiteFeeds - awesome web-based blog reader with mobile component
In response to a blog post I did a couple of days ago about the imminent need for mobile support in weblogging applications, I found LiteFeeds, a web-based RSS aggregator/blog reader that allows you to manage/categorize subscriptions, upload existing subscription lists via importing OPML, clip/share interesting bits from blog posts, and more. It's a slick service - most important, FREE - that works well enough on its own as a blog reader that I'm now using to catch up on my daily reading..
But the critical feature I found was that you can "mobilize" subscribed RSS feeds for use on a whole range of wireless platforms, including devices running PocketPC, BlackBerry, or Palm OS, or other SmartPhone and WAP-capable software. This allows you to comfortably/efficiently read posts on a mobile device, accounting for the limited nature of bandwith and screen real estate. Really nice.
This is actually a perfect example of a project I've been working on over the last couple of months - for podcasts. It's a working version of an idea I had to create a centralized app that would remotely aggregate/filter content between devices or podcasts.
This is my new favorite site/service. Great job & kudos to John Goodall for overseeing this project.
