Windows CE.NET 4.2

"Windows CE.NET 4.2 ("McKendric") has been released to manufacuring.  WinCE.NET 4.2 is what Pocket PC 2003 rides on so.....  PPC2003 is just around the corner for release.  :-D"

I believe they completely rewrote Internet Explorer for this one, so maybe I will be able to actually browse from my Pocket PC without it feeling like a 2400 baud modem. Here is a list of all the different features added to this version.

Yes, they did re-write PIE. It is now HTML 4.0 compliant. Yippeee!

Internet Explorer 6 for Windows CE extends device browsing capabilities with the addition of the MSHTML6 parsing and rendering engine and URLMON6 for correct page handling.

Internet Explorer 6 for Windows CE also includes:

Multiple Language (MLANG). MLANG provides additional componentization to reduce the size of the system registry. OEMs can now choose the level of language support that suits their target device.

XML Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (MIME). XML MIME assists device browsers in viewing XML files.

Peghelp. This Windows CE Help viewer, previously available only through Pocket Internet Explorer, is now supported by the full version of Internet Explorer 6 for Windows CE.

Windows Internet API (WinInet). WinInet has been optimized for performance and requires less memory.

Passport Single Sign-In (SSI) 1.4 authentication is now a separate and optional component.

Additional cascading style sheets (CSS) features. Now you can create a consistent design for your HTML files and also create a different CSS for each display device, such as printer or text-to-speech converters.

Support for HTML applications. HTML applications are now trusted applications that display when a Web developer creates menus, icons, toolbars, and title information.

Windows CE .NET 4.2 also offers an improved Pocket Internet Explorer browser with Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) support, enabling cascading styles, multiple zoom levels, DOM, and cookies on embedded devices.
